Honoring Lt. Ray Lester Bowman
On January 28, 2018 Lt. Ray Bowman passed away after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. Lt. Bowman served the community of Fort Oglethorpe through the Police Department for over 18 years. He had been a police officer for over 40 years and was a veteran of the United States Army.
When Lt. Bowman’s condition worsened he expressed regret that he wouldn’t be able to attend his daughter’s, Maddie, high school graduation. We as a department promised Ray that we would be there in his honor and tonight we were able to fulfill that promise to our friend who has gone on before us. While the faces of our department have changed over the past few years, the love and loyalty that binds us together is still there.
Maddie, we wish you a bright, successful and happy future as you close this chapter of your life and begin another. Thank you for allowing us to be there to celebrate your accomplishment in honor of your father.
