On February 17th, 2026, officers with the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department responded to 831 Battlefield Parkway, Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia (Burger King), in reference to a reported attempted abduction.
Prior to officers’ arrival, the suspect, described as a masked male driving a black panel van, had left the scene. Officers made contact with the complainant, obtained a statement, and issued a BOLO (Be On the Lookout) for the suspect vehicle.
The initial report indicated that while taking trash to the store’s outside receptacle, a female employee was contacted by a masked male subject who attempted to get her to come over to his vehicle, causing her to fear for her safety. The employee immediately fled back inside the business and notified management. No physical contact occurred between the employee and the suspect, and no further interaction was reported at that time. A report was filed, and extra patrol was established in the area in an effort to locate the described vehicle.
A follow-up investigation, including review of video surveillance footage, determined that the incident had been falsely reported to the complainant and did not occur. The false report is being handled appropriately.
The Fort Oglethorpe Police Department has received multiple inquiries regarding this incident due to information circulating on social media. Our goal is to remain transparent with our citizens regarding significant incidents and to provide updates as information becomes available. We remain committed to ensuring the safety and security of our community. ... See MoreSee Less

🚓 Special Visitor at FOPD! 🚓
Today we had the pleasure of meeting Logan, who stopped by the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department to check out some of our police vehicles!
Logan got an up-close look at a few of our patrol units and learned a little about the equipment our officers use every day to help keep our community safe. We always enjoy opportunities like this to connect with members of our community — especially when they’re as excited about police vehicles as Logan was!
Thank you for coming by to visit us, Logan! We hope you had a great time and come see us again soon.
