The Criminal Investigations Division (CID) is led by a Captain, a Lieutenant, and two Detective Sergeants who oversee the division’s investigative efforts and case management. This division is responsible for follow-up investigations of reported crimes, particularly those that are serious, complex, or require significant time and resources to resolve.

CID detectives are highly trained and experienced officers who have previously served in patrol and have demonstrated strong investigative aptitude. Their extensive background in uniformed policing provides a solid foundation for the more detailed and methodical work required in criminal investigations.

Detectives in this division specialize in conducting interviews and interrogations, collecting and analyzing evidence, processing crime scenes, and preparing cases for prosecution. They work closely with prosecutors, victims, witnesses, and other law enforcement agencies to ensure thorough investigations and successful outcomes in court.

While the Uniform Patrol Division serves as the first responder to incidents, the Criminal Investigations Division steps in to carry investigations forward—turning leads into cases, and cases into arrests. From thefts and assaults to fraud and homicides, CID plays a critical role in bringing justice and closure to victims and the community.
