The Fort Oglethorpe Police Department proudly serves the City of Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. Located in Catoosa County, Fort Oglethorpe is a historic community with a population of approximately 10,500. Once a U.S. Army post, the city today is known for its close-knit neighborhoods, rich military history, and proximity to Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park.
The department is made up of 32 dedicated sworn officers and 3 professional non-sworn staff members who have taken an oath to protect and serve the residents, businesses, and visitors of Fort Oglethorpe. Our team is committed to delivering the highest level of law enforcement services while upholding the department’s core values: People, Objective, Leadership, Integrity, Considerate, and Excellence.

The Fort Oglethorpe Police Department is proud to introduce several new officers who have recently joined our ranks and begun their journey serving our community.
🎓 Officer Ball, Officer Thomas, and Officer Rodriguez graduated this past Friday, November 21st, 2025, from GPSTC Rome. They each began their Field Training this week, where they will continue developing their skills alongside our experienced training Officers.
🏛️ Sgt. Coker has also joined the department, taking on the important role of Codes Enforcement, where he will help ensure safety and quality of life throughout the city.
➡️ Officer Padilla joins us from Catoosa County and is currently completing his Field Training as he transitions into service with our department.

The Fort Oglethorpe Police Department is urging all residents to be aware of a recent scam circulating in our area. Individuals posing as law enforcement officers are contacting citizens and claiming they owe money, have active warrants, or must make immediate payments to avoid arrest. These scammers are demanding payments through gift cards, Bitcoin transfers, or other non-traditional methods.
⚠️ Please remember:
- No officer from the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department or any legitimate law enforcement agency will ever call and demand payment in lieu of a warrant.
- We will never request or accept any form of payment over the phone — especially gift cards or Bitcoin transfers.
- These calls are fraudulent, and the individuals involved are attempting to steal your money.
We ask all citizens to use caution and remain vigilant. If you receive a suspicious call or message of this nature, do not send any money, do not provide personal information, and hang up immediately.

This exciting addition will strengthen our ability to serve and protect the Fort Oglethorpe community through enhanced drug detection, suspect tracking, and community outreach.
We are honored to partner with the Hurricane Creek K9 Foundation, a dedicated organization that provides and trains highly skilled police dogs for law enforcement agencies.
Our goal is to welcome two K-9 officers to our team in the coming months. These highly trained dogs will be invaluable in keeping our community safe and in building stronger connections with the citizens we proudly serve.
